Color Selection Time!

Remember how I said in my last post that I would get Ryan in a picture for this meeting? Well wouldn't ya know, he had something come up at work and he couldn't be here (which is kind of OK because let's be honest... who's the one really picking the colors here). Luckily, I had a great team to help me! The meeting started around 8 am. We first went over any changes I was planning to make to the floor plan that we had signed on. Then, we moved on to the colors! Starting with the exterior I picked out our siding, shingles, and shutters. We're going for a more modern look on the inside, but the outside is going to have just a touch of modern farmhouse with white vertical siding, black shingles, black shutters and black metal railing on our front porch.
Next stop, the interior of the home! I believe we started with picking out the cabinetry first- which makes sense, seeing as that sets the tone for most other colors. We decided to do white on our back wall of cabinetry and black on our island. We chose to keep the included laminate counter top in an effort to save some money. We figured it's much easier to change things like that down the road so we opted to put more money into getting the actual structure that we wanted. You'll also see some flooring samples in that picture. We are keeping the wood-look luxury vinyl flooring throughout most of the home other than carpet in the bedrooms. I then decided to go a little more bold with a funky sheet vinyl in the laundry room. Naturally, when I got home to show Ryan the colors he veto-d the sheet vinyl immediately but hey, he should've been there!
One of the last things we went over was paint. Now, if you've ever had to pick out a paint sample in your life, you know that there are approximately 9,000,0000,000 shades of each color that God has ever created. This was hands down the hardest part for me to visualize. I found a color that I liked, but it's so hard to envision that color on every wall of your house!! That's the one thing that we left blank to complete in our next meeting.
Overall, the color selection meeting was probably the most fun part of the process thus far. It's awesome to see all your ideas coming to life before your eyes!! It's also crazy how many little details there are that you don't even think about, such as, window grids, color of strainer in your sink, door hardware, ceiling texture, etc. Our next meeting is our lot inspection/pre-construction meeting with our field manager and I'll be darned if I let Ryan get out of that one!!
Stay tuned & thanks for reading!
Love your selections!!!!Including the fun sheet vinyl....Sorry Ryan you should have been there:) Can't wait for the next meeting!!!!!
